People are going to tell you all sorts of things.. but in the most part, there are no long term effects of smoking marijauna during the first trimester. Especially if it wasn't heavy usage. It has the same effect as a couple of cigarettes.

No matter what anyone tells you, unless you are smoking 50 joints a day, every day...it is not going to have any long term effects. Your child may not grow up to be Einstein if you are smoking a lot, but he/she is not going to show effects from it...if they do, it's from something else, but not pot.
Pot is a naturally grown drug...most of it doesn't have any chemicals anyway.

"Studies of marijuana in pregnancy are inconclusive because many women who smoke marijuana also use tobacco and alcohol. Smoking marijuana increases the levels of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the blood, which reduces the oxygen supply to the baby. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy can increase the chance of miscarriage, low birth-weight, premature births, developmental delays, and behavioral and learning problems."
"Some scientific studies have found that babies born to women who used marijuana during their pregnancy display altered responses to visual stimulation, increased tremors, and a high pitched cry, which may indicate problems with nervous system development. During pre- and early school years, marijuana-exposed children have been reported to have more behavioral problems and difficulties with sustained attention and memory than nonexposed children."
If you have smoked pot while pregnant you need to tell your doctor so they can monitor your baby more closely.

not that I am promoting it, but hello look at the "free love" generation and thier offspring named moonbeam and you will see most of the time it was okay, as long as your still not doing it chronically, and it was before you knew you were pregnant things should be okay, but FYI child protective services can have blood tests done on the placenta and the baby's blood, if found in the systems they can be taken away for child endangerment.

i did b4 i knew i was pregnant. And he is so healthy. My sister did too b4 she knew and all is good.
I think drugs like crack and heroin and alcohol affect the babies more.
you'd probablly have to smoke alot of pot to get a bad result.
