......sure, it may have happened and they are locked up in lunatic asylums, or is time not really a tangible entity?

I believe time travel to the future is possible Albert Einstien theorized it and NASA proved it by putting an atomic clock on the space shuttle. The atomic clock in Cape Canaveral and the clock on the shuttle were set to the same time, then the shuttle went into orbit and they found a several second delay in the clock on the ground. I read about this about 15 years ago but I can't remember the source. But as far as I know no one has proved that it is possible to travel back although I've heard several interesting stories.

There is a theory that time travel would send you to a different universe, one that only starts after the traveller ends up back in time.

For instance, I travel back to the events on September 11th to prevent the event from taking place. As soon as I arrive at the above date and am successfull from stopping September 11th, our universe splinters instantly creating one where 9/11 does occur, and another universe where I stop 9/11 and things turn out differently.

So, although I was born and raised in Universe A, my ACT of time travelling places me into Universe B. Both timelines then continue on with no knowledge of each other.

well first of all you must find a way to prove we are traveling forward in time. assuming we are, is not sufficient evidence, of this.

and secondly if any one were to travel back in time, they would be fully aware that anything they said or did, could alter history to the point, they might not even exist.

thirdly if we are traveling in circles. then we are moving forward away from the point of origion, for half the time. and backwards the other half of the time returning to the point of origion. since all of physicial totality is based on circular events to create what is known as time. meaning that time is not linear, but a linear rotating vector in an imaginary number plane. which could cause a false illusion of linear progress. so that it is quite possible we are traveling back in circular reoccuring time, to the very same future just again. which would explain many so called psycic abilities, in this reoccuring animal theme park.

How would you know they haven't?

Imagine if YOU were to travel back in time. Would you announce yourself? Would you expect to be believed? Would you even be given a chance to prove yourself?

Suppose time travel could not be made very accurate, say, as in picking a particular date to reach, or even a year. What could you bring back with you to prove you were from the future?

A flashlight to the middle ages? You'd be burned as a witch.

An almanac to the 17th century? What would you be able to prove with that?

Cigarette lighter to prehistoric man. You'd be clubbed to death and eaten.

What could you possibly as of a person claiming to be from our future that would prove his claim? Tomorrow's newspaper? I could print something up at a local copy shop. A gasoline pill? Maybe it hasn't been invented yet, in his future.

Dear Igloo,
There is no such thing as time, time is the devils work and you mustn’t speak of that blasphemy again, there is a coalition against such assumptions in which they find the culprit and force moldy oatmeal down their filthy orifices. At any rate it’s been a slice but bath time calls and I must depart this memo.
Good-day,
Signed,
Alotta

Because we'll all die in a horrible nuclear catastrophe, alien invasion, asteroid collision, atmospheric suffication, dehydration or the tribulation before time travel is invented, therefore there is no one left to come back.

perhaps time travel is only possible in one direction, forward. They cannot come back from the future because they can only go farther into the future.
