I have been recieving emails from my ex husband for a while and there is a restraining order in place that he is not to have any contact with me. But he persists in sending emails that are just upsetting and sometimes threatening. What can I do about this?

keep a copy and print out EVERY one......I believe that the restraining order would also cover this type of communication, mine does, so print them out with the dates / times and take to your police station along with a copy of the restraining order.
DO NOT reply to them as this might be viewed as encouraging him, although am sure that you are not, just dont get tempted.

If your ex is sending you email, and you can prove that it's him, who is sending the email. The first thing you should do is print out all the emails to which you have recieved from him, do not delete any of the emails from your computer, infact, save all the emails from him, to a new folder and name the new folder, so that you will know that these are the emails of which came from your ex.
The next thing you want to do, is contact your attorney, with copies of the emails. you are or would request that measures be taken against your ex, by the court, because he is in contemp, he is failing to follow the orders of the court.

Don't read them. Save them. When you get enough together tell the police or any attorneys involved in the restraining-order situation. Harrassing you is one thing. Threatening is a different thing. Both violate restraining orders as far as I know but can also be seen as violations in their own right.
After you've collected enough of the e.mails to get this person you may want to change your e.mail address and let any further e.mails bounce back to him.

Keep the emails and go to the police. Any form of communication is a breach of a restraining order
