I would never ever buy or be inclined to change companies by a door to door salesman. I wonder why in the age of the internet companies still use this method of sales. Even if they were offering me the best deal ever I would not take it up. I find myself getting ruder and more obnoxious everytime they come knocking. Does this type of selling appeal to you? As\I can't understand why they still do it, unless they do it to prey on the elderly and weak minded!

They say an Englishman's home is his castle, but that applies to everyone, English or not. Cold calling (door knockers) of any kind should be outlawed, they are an invasion of privacy and this practice encourages the more shady individuals to pray on the elderly and exploit them.

I just hate door knockers, the always turn up at the most inconvenient times, usually just as you get out bed on at teatime, I swing the door open tell them if I want new windows, a fitted kitchen, gas, electric, insurance, cavity wall insulation, sky TV, broadband, a new phone company or a damn conservatory then I will contact a company myself and how rubbish their items must be if they have to knock on door begging for business, I just tell them to close the gate behind them and close the door in their faces, grrrrrrrrrrr I find these people so infuriating.

So get a door-phone and then you don't have to open the door to anyone. You can buy them for not much more than a normal doorbell nowadays. I have a video door-phone and its real funny watching their faces. You decline their services and when you put down the phone the speaker gives a satisfying click which the salesperson, holy Joe, etc can hear. They know they are beaten. HEH !

No, it's very annoying. I don't answer the door if I don't know who it is & I'd rather ignore a salesman than have to be rude to them. A lot of people have trouble saying know face to face, so I think that's how these people still have success with this type of selling.

Anything that makes my dogs bark annoys me. If I want something, I'll go to the store and buy it, I never buy anything that someone comes to my house selling or calls on the phone selling. By the time the dogs quiet down, I have a headache so wouldn't buy whatever it is anyway.

We had so many people come to our door, even after we put up a no soliciting sign, (In one day, we had reps from three churches, two baptist, and one JW) two grass see companies, and a door to door cleaning lady.

So my husband found a big metal sign for the front door.

"No Tresspassing. Tresspassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again."

I equally dislike people peddling God on the doorstep. In the event that I decide to have a spiritual awakening and become a Jehovah's Witness/Mormon or other, it will be a personal and private moment not conducted in my dressing gown at the front door.

Christians come knocking at my door when I'm sleeping, or watching football. Go away, Christians!
