3-5+6+8 = 12, which means 12X2 = 24 + the middle rung is 25

x=midle rung
goes up 3= x+3
goes down 5=x-2
goes up 6 = x+4
goes up 8=x+12
therefore 12 rungs above and obviously below (half way up)
therefore 25 rungs on the ladder.

Draw it out. Just draw the rungs on the ladder counting up and down - remember he started in the middle, so to get the total you need to add what is above the middle and below the middle to the middle rung.
