Because the brakes pulse the vehicle when stopping, I dropped my car off at the dealership because when I bought it I was told everything would be covered. They told me that because I don't use my parking break it cause it caused the rear breaks to become unaligned to the point where the front brakes had to work harder and it caused the rotors to warp. No where in the owner’s manual can I find this.

Also, I bought it with an MP3 CD player. It overheats after 2 hours of use. I've had it replaced 4 times. The latest news they told me was that I was the only one ever to have it replaced. The 4th one didn't work at all. The dealership said that I must have put in a dirty disk that scraped the CD eye.

Both of your issues are founded, and the dealer is full of ****. Not using your parking brake doesn't misalign your pads, causing anything. And there's nothing big enough to fit in your cd payer that will stick to the cd, to fall off and scratch a reading eye. Personally, i would call and attorney, about a small claims issue, and explain the story, and see if he can make a call, this may motivate the dealer to quit screwing around and fix this right.

1. Go to the dealer 1 more time.
2. Have them put in writing the response you got.
3. Ask to see the service manager and ask it that is their response.
4. Now, (before you try and call "Chevrolet") demand the number for the "Zone Service Manager".
5. Call this gentlemen and setup a meeting.

They should have to give this to you. If they won't, call another Chevy dealer nearby and ask for the number. Since you're not ratting them out, they are probably going to give it up easily. Sometimes, simply the request will get a dealer to change their mind on the repair.

In essence, the Zone Rep is their boss, the rep for Chevy who oversees this dealership directly.

These guys usually have significant power over what gets fixed and when. And as a direct rep for Chevy, they are very protective of Chevy's reputation, today more than ever.

This is the guy you want to talk to. Calling Chevy in Detroit will get you nowhere.

Here's where GM gets an undeserved black eye...

You get brake shake because you have too much heat going into your rotors, causing them to warp. Why do you have too much heat? There could be plenty of reasons. Mostly, in hilly regions if you ride the brakes to maintain your speed you're going to develop a lot of heat. Try downshifting the transmission out of overdrive and let engine compression slow you down. Also, try 'snub' braking - braking to slower than the speed you want to go, then letting the truck coast to a bit faster than you want to go, repeat.

It's funny, I live in the Catskills and almost never develop brake shake. Yet, some of my customers repeatedly come in for it (in the same vehicle). Is it the vehicle, or the driving style?

The CD player seems like a wierd problem, and I've never had one overheat.

The big picture - take it to another dealer. If they can't/won't help, call Chevrolet Customer Assistance. The number is in your owner's manual.

Their brake story is a lot of BS. The only thing that may be affected by not using the parking brake is the cable. Without use, it may freeze up but not cause your brakes to become misaligned. Also, Chevrolet CD players are junk. My son has had his replaced twice in his '05 Colorado and I know of several other trucks around with cd players that don't work. You will probably be better off to go with an aftermarket radio. Tell them - no demand to see the dealer rep and discuss your problem with him.

Before you get to excided, get a secound oppion on these brakes. I dont know if you bought this new or used. Be aware that some of the older, and even some newer models, have a problem with the ABS system causing some pulsing in the peddel. I've never herd of the E-brake story you told, but I suppose it could happen. Please be sure you go to a realable repair shop, and be honest with them. They may charge you a inspection fee, but get that out into the open right a way. Be sure you get a read out from them you use if needed. Dont know about your CD player.

depending on if you bought it new or used, i would check your contract and warranty information paperwork. A lot of times even though they say "everything" is covered, it really isnt. things that have wear and tear (i.e. tires, your windshield, possibly the brakes!?!?!) are not covered by it. i would also have the dealership contact the company that makes your MP3/CD player...if it is a faulty product, that is a problem of the company, not the dealership, they just do the installation.

Call the dealership and ask to speak to the "customer relations manager". explain to him/her whats been going on and how you feel you havent been getting the help you feel you deserve....going to "corporate" will do NOTHING....they will just end up contact the customer relations rep for the store anyway......

If this is a new car check the documentation you got when you bought the car - it will tell you the process to go through to complain and start down the "lemon law" path
The brakes may or may not be covered which would be discussed in the warranty materials provided you at purchase - in this case what was written is more important than was told to you verbally
Good luck

You should take your car to a different dealer. Obviously the one you are working with is not competent enought to fix their own cars. The brakes sound like they have been subject to excessive heat and caused the rotors to warp. Im not sure on this, but it sounds most likely. Have a decent mechanic take a look at it and have him give you a report of what is wrong. Then take it to another dealer and give them hell.

The dealer is most likely cheating you. If you have had to get the mp3 replaced 4 times its the dealers fault. If it was me in this situation I would call the customer service at the dealer ship and complain. I would also call the Chevy headquarters where ever it is and complain and get them to do something. The dealer is trying to protect itself when it say this has never happened before. Hope ths helps.

Never heard of a dealer telling someone that about the brakes, but it sounds to me like they don't want to do ANY warranty work on your car that you very much deserve, tell them that you're going to see what your attorney, and the news crews think of the situation and if they still don't budge then there's this thing called SUINING that you can do.
