Probably because none of the show executives knew too much about architecture or what the house of a good architect should look like so they didn't care to put much development beyond the cool job title and maybe occasional roll of drawings he got to tote around on set.

Actually, there were three bathrooms.
The Kids had one
Mike and Carroll had one
and, Alice had one.
There may have even been a guest bathroom, but we might not have known about that.

If you remember, the 6 kids shared the one, Mike and Carol had one supposedly off of the master bedroom, and Alice the maid, must have had one off of her bedroom!! We only saw the one that the kids used!
