It is a contact sport, just that the English FA and other footballing authorities are cutting out the amount of contact allowed, and making it more of a non-contact sport

English football is defined non-contact sport because they are not SUPPOSED to touch each other! Think of the contrast with rugby where players have to tackle (by grabbing and hanging on like grim death) and scrum (interlocking heads and shoving as hard as humanly possible), this is a contact sport.

It is supposed to be an non-contact sport but I think they forgot to tell some of the players that. It you watch some of the derbys like the old firm there is most definately contact.

If you mean American football, then it is non-contact the way they play it with so much padding, in UK it's called RUGBY and is totally FULL contact (American wussies).
If you mean proper football (what American's call soccer), then it's full contact unless you play for premiership or England, then you are not allowed even to contact with the BALL!

If you are referring to American football, I have a question for you. Are you serious? Yes, absolutely. If you are referring to UK football, I have no idea, but I have seen those rugby guys get slammed about quite a bit.
