Because the non experts have a political and financial interest in keeping "business as usual."

This is not true. Check your facts first. The media (television and news papers) like running the stories that draw the biggest audience and impending disaster is a certain selling story. Weather it is true or not, it makes money for the network and brings in more viewers. They are not necessarily lying or exaggerating on purpose, they are just seeking out the stories that will bring in the best ratings which is not a scientific method to finding out the truth.

Also the comment below by "notme" links to wikipedia which is not a valid source and the graph is not factual because no one knows the earths average temperature for any year more than 80 years agoe. Before that no one was keeping a consistant record of global temperatures and the only thing experts can tell are that at certain times (the mini ice age) there was a larger ammount of ice than usual. Experts cannot tell that the mean temperature for any given year more than about a hundred years agoe.

The list of experts that don't believe it's a threat always proves interesting. While many (not all) are very qualified scientists many of the leaders in science do believe that it is a threat. The debate seems to be about whether or not global warming would take place naturally if there were no human interference. Most scientists seem to believe it might but that humans impact it in a very major way. If we are making it far worse does it not make sense to try to lessen that impact?

Well..

* A Gallup poll found that only 17 percent of the members of the Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Society think that the warming of the 20th century has been a result of greenhouse gas emissions - principally CO2 from burning fossil fuels.

* Only 13 percent of the scientists responding to a survey conducted by the environmental organization Greenpeace believe catastrophic climate change will result from continuing current patterns of energy use.

* More than 100 noted scientists, including the former president of the National Academy of Sciences, signed a letter declaring that costly actions to reduce greenhouse gases are not justified by the best available evidence.

Non experts believe it is not a threat because Al Gore is a Democrat, that's why.

I'll stick with the so-called experts before the know-nothings who, well, usually know nothing.Global warming could be real, considering all the pollution we inncur.

there is the two synthetic and organic worldwide warming. the two way, we could desire to parent a thank you to relax it down (different than a sort of volcanoes which DO cool issues down.) CO2 tiers are no longer poisonous yet have been progressively turning out to be and could upward thrust despite if the Earth "cools" somewhat. sparkling power is the suitable we are able to desire for and burning any carbon product isn't a thank you to get there as all carbon burning provides off CO2 no count how finished and organic the combustion is.

Some of us non-experts do not think it should be politicized so much.

I believe in conservationism as a good steward of this earth. I try not to drive anywhere I do not have to. I drive a sensible car (Subaru Forester). I recycle paper, plastic and cans. I don't kill anything I don't plan to eat:)

Whether global warming exists, or not, is irrelevant other than living as conservationally as possible, isn't it?

This is for the non-experts. The fact that the earth is warming is indisputable. Chart linked below. Does the sudden rise recently tell you anything? It is time to start paying attention to the warnings.

Because they are stupid and want to keep drilling and drilling for oil until the world dries up or a giant ice burg gets heated up enough (you know our ozone layer is depleting due to smog) to break off and fall into the ocean causing a giant tsunami that wont stop until it hits land. you know the largest tsunami ever recorded was from a land slide on a mountain into a lake. took out quite a few boats forgot how many only 1 boat with 2 people survived

Exactly!

In almost every country but the US the non experts actually rely on the experts for accurate information. But here in the US we believe politicians?????

At least half of us do...

It's part of the dumbing down of the US by the GOP.
