I've had this cactus for about 6 months. It's green, in good condition, but I'm wondering if it's ever going to bloom by itself.

Most cacti do bloom. A lot of them only bloom once in a while though. I've even seen cacti that only bloom once every 100 years or so. It may be that you have just missed the blooming season for your cactus or that it is one that has an incredibly slow blooming cycle.

Yes...Yes....Yes, and beautifully too!! I have some that get the most beautiful yellow blooms on them. They smell like lemon. I have others that I get purple blooms on. Not real big,,,, about the size of a silver dollar. My yuccas (7) are all blooming now. Big stalks with many white blooms coming out. The cacti will bloom in the spring. They are gorgeous. Enjoy them. They are easy to take care of and need little or no care!!!!

Depends on the cactus. In spring many of the cacti in my local area have beautiful blooms, either yellow or red or purple. If I knew how to attach a picture, I'd show you, I have some lovely photos.

Is it a Christmas Cactus (leafy segments growing from base of prior segment)? There forced to bloom in hothouses for Christmas. Water it in the summer, and let it dry out thouroughly between waterings in the winter. Place it in the sunniest window possible, it will bloom in the spring. In fact most cactus will bloom in the sping. If it's an indoor plant, the trick is to make it think it went through winter. You do that by cutting back on water. If you live where winter's don't get below freezing, set your cactus outside for the winter. I force tulips and iris to bloom indoors by putting their bulbs in the freezer for a couple weeks, and then planting indoors. Works like a charm!

Yes cacti do bloom. Not all of them bloom though. There are certain species that do and others that don't. You can find out more by looking in gardening books/magazines.

Very little water, very little fertilizer and lots of sun. It will bloom. Christmas Cactus stop fertilizing now and water sparingly.

If it was in the desert it would most likely bloom, when it is supposed to.
but not very often when they are out of their environment. So the answer is: Maybe Not Yours. :0(
