both Good website and Good authors is very subjective.
Try Amazon.com for starters
Then try Barnes&Noble.com and Borders.com

Amazon.co.uk is good and not just for books but all sorts of other stuff too....also play.com but I tend to use play.com for dvds, they do free postage...Amazon do free postage if you spend over £15 I think...
