Smorb Read the document before you come here posting lies. It dose not say anywhere the the war is a failure. Educate yourself and stop reading the NEW York times.

Because they are hypocrites. To out the administration in their game of politics they can demand investigations, to catch a spy who disclosed segments of a classified document that potentially affects national security they are suddenly uninterested.
Did I mention they were hypocrites?
But don't worry about the investigation, the Republicans are taking care of business while the Democrats play their games.

What Democrat do you suppose leaked a BUSH ADMINISTRATION document?
There is cause for an investigation, and the administration immediately said one would be conducted, so the "cursed liberals" didn't need to call for one.
The Plame incident is different in that the leak had nothing to to with public policy debate and everything to do with punishing someone who dared to question the administration's policies.
The real question is why you are trying to divert attention from the fact that the administration's own intelligence services say the war is a failure. That's the eseence of the report even if it doesn't say so outright. The centerpiece of the President's "War on Terror" has in fact worsened the terrorist threat.
Which is, of course, what opponents of the war have been saying.....
Leogirl: Valerie Plame was a CIA agent and did in fact conduct covert activities. Precious little detail is (or should be) available, but it has been adequately confirmed that she was involved with recruitment of foreign assets and transfer of intelligence gained from said assets (assets being people -- intel sources.) She was given a "cover job," a phony non-governmental position that allowed her to travel internationally and do her work without being identified as a government operative.
That is the essence of CIA covert work. It's not like the movies. At least not usually.
Just Google her name. You'll find plenty.

A simple Google search gives the definition, courtesy of the Christian Science Monitor:
"A classified National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) contends that the war in Iraq has increased Islamic radicalism, and has made the terror threat around the world worse. Based on information from US government officials who had seen the document and spoke on condition of anyonymity, The New York Times reports that the NIE document, titled "Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States," says the war plays a much more direct role in the spread of Islamic radicalism around the world than has previously been indicated by the White House, or in a recent report by the US House intelligence committee."
As I understand it the gist of the document was unclassified.
But what do I know. This is London. And Bill Clinton is here this week, doing good for humanity as usual.

The Democrat who leaked it knew it would be instumental inprooving the case against Bush's illegal foreign policis on Iraq.
When "Pflame"(oh that's nice) was outed it reverted back to Karl Rove,a man with a reputation for throwing dissenters in jail and whose first rule is to never admit anything. The entire argument
here overall is that the Republicans have far more to hide because of (1) Bush ignored warnings pre 9-11,and (2) the NIE document leak will play a significant role in the subpeonas issues in 2007 after Democrats take control of the Senate.

Yes, a lib did leak it--as with all the CLASSIFIED information which was leaked. These traitors need to be tried for treason!
BTW, gregg-- Are you saying that classified documents pertaining to National Security should be posted on the Internet? How about coordinates of our troops? And you wonder why we keep telling you that Libs are weak on defense?
You're on a need to know basis--and YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW!

That's an excellent question! The American people ARE entitled to know how much damage the President is doing to the United States and these NIE's should never have to be leaked- they should be openly published!
Then again, its going to tell us what we already know- the President's foreign policy is a disaster.
I think we should investigate what the President is covering up instead.

Has it ever been determined if Valeri held an agent position? or Just worked there? The liberals think that leaking all secrets is good. This is the party that overlooks Selling secrets to the Chinese and will even send people in to get rid of documents that may not look good. They do not have this countries best interest in mind, in fact they are out for the destruction of it, in my opinion.

We believe in open government. Republicans believe in closed, secretive government. Think about that when you vote.
I think citizens don't necessarily have a right to know the names of all covert CIA operatives. But I do think citizens have the right to know whether or not the intelligence community thinks that the war in Iraq made us less safe. Again, it's all about the Republican war on open government.
--Click4CB, I am saying that many "classified" documents should not be classified. Not the positions of the troops, not covert agents, but many many things the government and this administration has been keeping secret from us the voters should be made available. Since I am liberal I belive in open government and government by the people. We have to know as much as is humanly possible in order to exercise our voting responsibilities. You and Bill can live your lives thinking others know better what you should and should not be allowed to know, but because I'm not Republican I don't automatically lay my rights down at the feet of authority.

Because telling the American people the truth about what bush has done by invading Iraq to secure no bid contracts for halliburton isn't the biggest problem we have in this country.

There's an ongoing investigation by the special prosecutor. And the majority controlling party in Congress isn't doing anything about it, so how you do expect anyone else in Congress to do anything?
Besides, many Democrats are calling for an investigation (2nd link)
