The foam inserts in the couch cushions have no life left in them, yet the couch itself is still in great shape. I live in NY, where would I purchase retail replacement foam?

Most of the Craft stores have the foam. Micheals, Hobby Lobby, I'd also try some some of the fabric stores. They may carry it also.

I just reupholstered my sofa and was able to purchase upholstery foam from a local upholstery store. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but you want to make sure that you purchase the right type of foam or your sofa cushions will not last long.

If you don't want to go that rout, you can try wraping your existing cushions with batting. Batting can be purchased at your local Jo-Ann Fabric. The Batting comes in large rolls and you will be able to just wrap your existing foam. Also, make sure you hold on to your old foam to use as a pattern!

If your sofa is sagging, you can purchase a fold out reinforcer to place under the cushions. They are sold at Walmart.

Good luck and have fun!

I used the washers at the laundry mat SEVERAL times (cat is now gone sadly, couldnt do it anymore) Multiple issues raging from UTI's and outside cats and we had 4, one past and the others acted out made my life and the couch a living hell for a year. Urine requires vodka or alcohol to kill the smell BUT THATS NOT ENOUGH. You must then use an ENZYME to remove the unsmellable traces the cats will pick up on. ALL laundry detergent worked for me but they sell sprays - must say urine enzyme! Now having said that IT TAKES SEVERAL DAYS for the foam to dry and you must have a fan blowing the entire time. Keep turning the cushions. Make sure to remove the batting and covers first. Soak these in a good enzyme cleaner after using vodka or alcohol (I heard vinegar works but its kind caustic so never tried it). Air dry everything NO HEAT.

If you have a Joanne store in your neighborhood, it would be a good place to look. The people there are usually very helpful and they are also good to give you some ideas and instructions.
