Actually it would take a complex ratio to give you an amount because we could mention that there are 6,783, 593,216 people in the world and then say wait no 217, no 218 but the problem is that while a new person is born every 2-3 seconds or so people also die every 6-7 seconds.

Somewhere between 6 and 7 billion, the correct defenition of 1 billion being 1,000,000,000. Exactly where in this range, no-one knows, but it probably won't be long before it passes 7 billion.
