I mean, the feet don't change, but the shoes do, and some shoes are real stinkers by the end of a day, while other shoes aren't.

Natural fiber type shoes are better for not getting stinky feet, like leather or canvas. If you wear fake-leather shoes or plastic or rubber or vinyl then your feet won't "breathe" and will sweat more and therefore stink more, plus the sweat mixed with whatever the shoes are made of makes an even worse smell.

Bacteria is to blame. When your feet sweat, bacteria multiplies and grows, causing your feet to smell bad. Some it has to do with your body chemistry and some has to do with what the shoe is made of. Plastic and some man made materials do not allow your feet to breathe, resulting in sweaty, stinky feet!

Here are a few ways to avoid stinky feet:

1. make sure your feet are clean before you put your shoes on.
2. wear socks with your shoes so they'll absorb the sweat.
3. wear shoes that fit -- not too tight.
4. wash the shoes or insoles regularly
5. some people also put deoderant on the soles of their feet (though I would think it would mess up the insides of your shoes)

Are you wearing socks? Closed toe shoes with no socks are sure to be stinkers. If you're feet can't breath, then they will sweat. Some people's foot sweat stinks, so there you go.

depends on how well the shoes breath. the stench comes from bacteria growing in the moisture build up. leather or cloth shoes are best, esp if you treat them with foot powder every so often. also kick your shoes off while you are at your desk, it'll help them to dry out (your feet to) and will prevent the buildup of bacteria and fungi...

well, vinyl shoes don't breathe and so things get very clammy and stuffy and icky. Leather breathes well, I prefer it, although I am a bit sad about it as I am aware of how the industry treats the animals and douses the skins in various harsh chemicals.

But most people wear runners, and some of them seem very stinky indeed...

It is synthetic vs. natural material.
Natural material will breathe better than man made materials.
Your feet sweat about 1/4 cup of sweat a day.
Also wear good socks.
