Jackie Robinson was inducted in 1962, his first year of eligibility. His induction was relatively soon after integration because his career in the majors was relatively short (only 10 years), mostly because he was already 28 years old when he made his MLB debut.
Roy Campanella, elected in 1969, was the 2nd. Satchel Paige, who was inducted in 1971, was the first player elected for his play in the ***** Leagues.

It was Jackie Robinson. Just think how different MLB would be if black players had entered in 1900.
Jackie made the HOF in his 4th best sport. In college at UCLA, he was all-conference in basketball, track, football and baseball.
He wasn't by far the best player in the ***** Leagues.
