If you are looking for a job on a fishing boat, either stick with the state of Alaska website or go to Alaska and try to find a job on the docks.

Check out the Seafood section of the State of Alaska job site:

http://www.labor.state.ak.us/esd_alaska_jobs/

Under the "fishing jobs in Alaska" section, there is a list of community seafood empolyment specialists that you can call.

If you opt to go to Alaska, I would try to find work at a fish processing plant first. This work is hard, tedious, wet, and generally sucks (whether you are unloading boats or on the slime line). While you are working there, you can try to get to know the boat Captains and see if you get on a crew.

If you go to Alaska, make sure you have a way home. Good paying work in Alaska is scarce. Getting a good paying job can be very tough (finding a fishing job has only gotten worse since the Deadliest Catch came out on the Discovery Channel). The cost of living can be expensive in many areas. There is a good chance you might not be able to hack it in Alaska. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but I felt compelled to tell you.

Good Luck
