there are patent rights to the drugs and the protection of the fortunate to be rich from them is a security blanket that is given protection from failing apart. there seems to be a lot of clout in the hands of powerful lobbyist doing their leg work to make sure that they survive. all who want cheap drugs like we use to have aren't going to get them almost all of you are Seniors and you are the only one aware of how cheap drugs were so there just waiting you out, there is a problem here the old people that there waiting out so that the new kids on the block pay big time for drugs and don't have any memory of what you know will willingly pay what ever the costs may be, so where is there a way out it seems that the boomer rules but there to rich and retired and maybe still trying to put together the big pay off, but anyway their the one that have to organize with people like gov. blago from Illinois while the door of opportunity is open and set new standards of how the biggest population group the boomers are being used as just a big squeeze for their money. you can make prescription drugs come down by shear clout of their mass but their unorganized see here where politician want them to defer to them and not organize them selves. It is just another head game.

Depends how they would "interfere" with them. Please clarify what you mean.

Thanks for clarifying! I think free enterprise is good, and should not be interfered with in general, but I think that if some companies want to make generic drugs for cheaper than the big pharma companies, I think the government should allow them to do so. I think drugs are really over priced, and no one should be forced to go out of the country just to purchase medication.

We need regulation of prescription drugs, so that you aren't taking powdered frog legs from Bolivia instead of your intended chemotherapy, or worse.

Since you clarified your question, I would agree with you. Pricing should be more competitive.

No. As consumers, we should have the right to purchase our drugs anywhere that offers us the lowest prices.
