You need 4, 4 x 8 sheets. You will have a 2 x 1 piece left over whichever way you decide to lay the sheets. The least amount of cuts necessary would be to lay the sheets of plywood 8' lenth along the 14' axis, cutting off a 4 x 2 section. The left over sections, cut in half, Lengrth wise should accomodate the 1 x 14 space to be covered. Last cut would be the 2 x 1 remnant.

Thanks, that was fun. Ok, I cheated and cut out quadrille paper to solve this.

I'm assuming the floor joists run in the 10 feet demesion. To me it seems you need five sheets. I would run it across the 10 ft. dimension using a full sheet and a 2 by 4 ft. piece. Then a 2 by 4 ft. piece and a full sheet (stagger the joints). Then a 4 by 6 and a 4 by 4. This leaves a 2 by 8 and a 2 by 2. This leaves waste of 20 sq. ft, a 2 by 2 and a 2 by 8, which can be used for shelving. I also suggest you put in blocking between the joists under any unsupported seams.
