Sometimes it takes war to achieve peace. Example: WW2. If we had not conquered Germany, Italy and Japan, we would not have experienced peace. We would have become slaves and probably remained slaves to this day. Thank God for that great generation that sacrificed so much!
I long for the day when lasting peace is achieved. But sadly, we humans will never achieve it on our own. It will take a higher power.

"The only way to assure peace, is to constantly prepare for war." By showing that you are stronger than another person, community, government, or country. You show that you are stronger than them and should be feared, and through fear comes control. When someone fears you they do not attack. To a point it's when the power from fear is misused that revolts occur, but to answer your question. War is the best peace keeper, because the victor is stronger that the loser and the loser is less inclined to attack again.

The only way it makes sense to me is if you consider that you are fighting a war to bring peace to a region. War in the short-term for peace in the long-term...
