Sine = opp/hyp
cos=ad/hyp

the speed is the hyp

verticle = opposite
horizontal = adjacent

Verticle = 40.1 * sine 31
Horizotal = 40.1 * cos 31

to compute distance, we also need to know the duration (time) of travel.

Horizontally- 34.4 m
Vertically- 20.65 m

It's all about using the sines and cosines of the angle
