OK, awhile back I decided to stop taking birth control to get my system back in order. Well now everything is ok and I am wanting to get back on it. But my question is that will it be ok for me to start taking them today? Without going into details, I just want to start today instead of waiting for the sunday or the sunday after my next period. But me doing so, will there be problems or anything?

Also, just to mention.... Since I have been off like 5 months now. I still do not have a regular period so when to expect it is not known and I wanted to mention that because that might make a difference.

And for the people that like to leave rude comments. Yes I have already contacted me OBGYN doctor about this and I am waiting for them to return my call. I just wanted to see what others had to say during the wait.

You people are sweet! But having sex is NOT my reason! I Had been on depo for 5 yrs then pills for 2 yrs after that. I needed to stop for awhile. And my reasons now is because I have horrible cramps during my period and my birth control stopped that....

You call call your doctors office and he or she should call you back. You wouldn't necessarily need to see the doctor. Some say to wait until the Sunday after you start your period, some say it doesn't matter. You tend to have less trouble with spotting and irregular bleeding if you start the sunday after your period.

It isn't necessary to take a break from the pill. I don't know what your reasonings were, but with the modern pills, doctors say it isn't necessary. Just some info for future reference.

I would wait and see what your doctor says. Starting them at the wrong time may only serve to keep your cycle messed up longer than is necessary but only your doctor can tell you that. I am not sure what your hurry is but if your cycle has been messed up anyway it would be recommended to use other forms of birth control for at least a month anyway.

Good luck

I would see your doctor first and describe your periods, he/she might need to adjust the strength of the pill you are using. Even though they were prescribed to you, it is never a good idea to resume any medication without at least consulting your doctor. Plus after five months you are probably due for a PAP test anyways.

I would be more concerned that your periods are messed up. I would not take them again without consulting your physican. I know your reason for wanting to start them TODAY, but remember that their are other birth control options. Condoms are great at preventing pregnancy.
