The truth is black folks say it all the time and shouldn't be offended when a white person uses this term. Everyone wants to be "hip" and using slang is just what it is. It's when the word n*gger is used and becomes very offensive to Afro-American people....No disrespect yo. Oh yea I had to edit this after reading some of these remarks. Sorry to tell you but your white children, brothers, sisters, friends, cousins and quite a few other people use this word casually all the time. I hear it everyday. Peace!

When "yo" was cool to say, Caucasians were saying that too.
It just happens that social leaders (in this case, mainly musicians) are saying it so people that listen to them repeat what they do and say.
If you are able to remove your emotional reaction to the word, then you can see it is simply a fad that too will pass. It just happens that this fad is emotionally charged by the history of the USA.

Why? Did the 13th amendment get repealed?

Personally, I find the word distasteful, no matter who says it. And hearing it in most hip-hop songs, along with b*tch, h0, and other derogatory, degrading names toward women is the reason why hip-hop is nothing more than a musical minstrel show.

It is a derogatory word. It means ignorant and was used to describe african americans. I think anybody that uses the word is ignorant. I don't care who uses it and for what reason. No matter what the color of their skin is.

Its just a word...but its meant to be an insult and whoever says it, thats what it is. No matter what race says it. Its so dumb and they prounounce it wrong- sound like a dumbo who ever says it.

Can't use it...won't use it...Use it only in extreme situations.

I would be horrified to hear a 'cracker' use the word in public. I would smack my kids mouth if they said it. Would dis-own a friend if they said it.

Not a good word to use - ever.

What about you mexican? Don't say your not Mexican your Puerto Rican because it really does'nt matter. What if whitey says it? What if brownie or blackey says it? Does it make a difference? Personally, I don't care who says it. If it's okay for blacks to say it then it's okay for anyone.

Any word only has as much power as you give it. It is only an audible vibration. In my opinion, there is NO word that should be forbidden, or thought of as "bad".
