When I got my iPod I started my library on a computer where I worked at. Many of the songs I have the CDs, but I would rather not go through the hassle of reinstalling hundreds of CDs.

I don't work at that location anymore but I would still have access to the computer if necessary for the transfer of the files.

Is there any program that will allow me to plug in my iPod into the computer and copy the files from the iPod to the iTunes that I have at home?

If I understand this correctly, you can still get to the computer that has the songs you want.

Then the solution is simple: Just 'Enable Hard Disk' use with your iPod, and use it to 'carry over' the mp3 files to the new computer, then set up the playlists again.

'Plan B' is a direct extraction of the files from your iPod. There are several apps which do this, some free, some not. You can discover them at a glance from the detailed chart at this link:

(If the link is broken, type 'Comparison of IPod Managers' into Wikipedia.)

If you are on Mac OSX 10.3 or higher, I recommend Senuti (it's actually iTunes spelled backwards!) If, as is more likely, you use Windows, download Ephpod, available at:

http://www.ephpod.com/

You can also try another Windows option called 'iDump', available at:

http://www.download.com/idump/3000-2169_...

It's also well spoken of and most users have good experiences.

This should really do it, but if not, as a back-up option then 'YamiPod' is another application, available for download at:

http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home...

Also, check the programme's on-line manual or 'help' section to see exactly where the extracted files are diverted to - it's quite possible you may have to re-drag them into the iTunes window to set up your Playlists again.

Good luck!

You didn't say what kind of computer you had.
Is it a PC?
Go to the link and type in a question for help.
