Everyday, when I return from work there are at least 5 dragonflies on the house. But this seems to be the case everywhere I go. Plus, i saw a news headline on TV last week but i didn't have time to watch the news so I missed out on why there are so many dragonflies.

Blame it on global warming.

(UK: Essex/London border). There does not appear to be an increase this year in the dragonfly population. You may be mixing them up with the flying daddy-long-legs (Crane Fly). There are literally millions this year. I also notice a great increase in baby wasps lately. We have an increasing number of large hornets this year also.

do u mean crane fies (daddy longlegs?) It because we have had a very hot summer, followed by lots of rain. This is the perfect conditions for the cranefly to hatch underground and as it rains the ground softens, allowing it to escape. After the craneflies will come the abundance of spiders, watch and see!
