Hop on the 40, go east for a day or two. Follow the signs to the Big Texan and have a 72 oz steak for free if you can eat it in an hour.

I took highway 27 north from Lubbock. Amarillo is a nice enough place but it is a bit of a horse oriented city so not to my liking, quite clean though. It is 711 miles from Houston so not the place to go for a day trip, I was just passing through.

Amerillo is Located in the center of the Texas Panhandle, I guess the way there would depend on where you are travelling from. There are 184,941 residents there, so I Guess they would care about knowing the way there else they would not get home if they travelled away...lol
