Winnie the Pooh lived in the Hundred Acre Wood. He likes making up songs, eating honey, meeting Piglet - and playing Poohsticks! He also likes setting Heffalump traps. His best friends are Piglet and Christopher Robin, who calls him 'silly old bear'!
He first appeared in Winnie the Pooh (published in 1926) - and my daughter loves the stories (aged 7!) - and my son (aged 13!!!) likes to read the stories to her. This is obviously because of my daughter and not because of the stories!

A A Milne wrote the stories of winnie the Pooh based on the observations of his real life son. In fiction, winnie the pooh lives in the hundred acre wood but in real life this is the Ashdown Forest in Sussex. Walking in the Ashdown Forest you can actually see the sites AA Milne wrote about in his books - the bridge from which pooh sticks were thrown, the sand pit used to catch "heffalumps" and so forth. No real life Tigers though - as far as I am aware - the closest to that is the Black Panther sitings on the Moors!!!
