HI I LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS AND BILL PARCELS JUST RELEASED HIS PRESS CONFRENCE STATING THE SITUATION ON HOW EARLIER THIS WEEK T.O. WAS ON THIS PAIN MEDICATION, BUT STILL PRACTICED TUESDAY
THEN TUESDAY NIGHT HE WAS AT HIS HOUSE WITH A "LADY FRIEND" WHEN HE TOOK LIKE 10 OF THE PAIN PILLS (WHEN HES ONLY SUPPOSED TO TAKE LIKE 6 A DAY) AND THE GIRL CALLED 911
AT THE HOSPITAL THEY PUMPED HIS STOMACH AND ASKED HIM- DID YOU TAKE THESE ON PURPOSE HE SAID "YES"
THEN THEY ASKED DID YOU TAKE THESE TO HURT YOURSELF HE REPLIED "YES"

First of all, based on my experience working in acute care in the hospital, there is no way he would be released from there as fast as he was if he indeed were trying to commit suicide. Patients who truly try and commit suicide generally require antidotes or charcoal or sorbitol to try to remove the toxic substance. Additionally, once that is done, and the patient is no longer in danger, they are put on 24 hour watch with a sitter in the room. Usually people who almost succeed in suicide are in the hospital for days. Taking 35 pills certainly would warrant such treatment, but in T.O.'s case, I seriously doubt it happened.

The whole story was probably as he said in the press conference, those around him (his publicist friend) being overly concerned because of the way he may have been unresponsive or delirious. Hydrocodone (a narcotic derivative) could certainly make you (and Owens) delirious. I think what he said makes sense given the situation.

True narcotic allergies are pretty rare though, but people commonly mix up side effects (drowsiness, incoherence, respiratory depression, mental effects) with allergies when it comes to narcotics.

In the end, I think the media overreacted to some overreactions by his publicist friend and his grogginess with the paramedics. Now I am not a great fan of his actions off the field (but he is a great football player), but he is human, and we need to respect at least that.
