I was walking around the house with my toothbrush in my mouth and I turned my head...toothbrush in mouth...and was too close to the door jam and my toothbrush got pushed all the way into the back of my throat. I pulled it out and went to work. As the day is going on I feel horrible. My throat feels very sore and irritated..like I punctured something in my neck and I am feeling very achy, tired and just terrible. Could I have done something when I did this?

I hate giving advise on stuff like this because I'm not a doctor but here it goes. Your throat is probably sore and irritated from the incident and might be tomorrow also. I cant think of any reason as to why your whole body would feel achy though. My advice would be not to eat anything hard and crunchy like chips and if you still feel bad tomorrow then call the doctor.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Ear pain? Have you looked into your throat with a flashlight to see the damage? Is there actually a tear in the skin? Bleeding? Even if you can't see it and you CAN feel it, why not have it checked out? My daughter once pierced her palate (roof of her mouth) with a BIC pen cap. While chewing on the pen cap, her elbow slipped, her head fell forward, the pen went up. It was an emergency room event. That puncture went thru to the sinus area. Lotsa antibiotics needed. So if that toothbrush went in, there can be a hole somewhere. Maybe someone should take a look. Especially if you feel horrible, just take care of yourself.

It is a possibility that your throat became infected at the site of injury. It could also be your body responding to injury... Think of when you hurt your ankle or back or anything else... inflammation is your natural defense system but it makes your body work hard. I suggest that you make sure you're getting proper nutrition to help your body fight off possible infection and mend the injury. Try cold soups and ice creams. Avoid hot things as they may make the inflammation worse. If you're still feeling this way in a day or you get worse instead of better, please see a doc.
