Do you want to have a go at defining it?

(This is just a casual question, so there's no need to rack your brains too much about it. Just tell me what comes to mind.)

I know this is too abstract a question, so I will help you by sharing with you what is in my mind -

Love is in expectation of something.
(You will love me in return, I will get these favours from you...)

Love is in return or something.
(You've given me so much, I owe you so much...)

Also, I don't mean just the love between a young couple. Love between parent and child, love for one's nation, love for God, etc.

the ancient Greeks had 7 words for love.
Love of country, self, children, romantic, etc.
I think we need more than one verb to define love, don't you?

Love, as in that infatuation is a chemical respond to someone that quickly fades. Love as in a partnership is more a commitment than a feeling. Then as you spend a life together, you can't imagine being alone, that too is love.

I don't know that it can be explained rationally or even if it should. Love is what makes life worthwhile and ensures the continuation of mankind. Most worthwhile things are done for or out of love.

theres nothing abt expectations and precalculations and stuff like that when it comes to true love....
its when u feel its finally worth takin the risk of even being totaly miserable if it doesnt work out; this unexplainable mixture of lust and infactuation, amazement and adoration, and just pure simple gratitute to God that u were lucky enought to meet this person :D

I think you are right. Why do we love and why are we loved? I mean you wouldnt love anyone who had nothing to offer you...it is about compromise and giving to get.
