if you are talking about from the ground up to where it crosses a street or roadway it has to be a minimum of 18ft i believe .we had one torn down on private property at my work when we put it back up to be safe we went to 23ft

If you have a legit concern about the height, that it is a safety issue for example, call Verizon, I 'm sure they will raise your home drop wire.

If you are talking about the cables it self that runs from pole to pole, there are factors such as the poles overall height that are considered, as well as what else may be on the pole. (cable, Fire alarm, electrical)
