I'm from the south and am going up North to college. I'm very casual rocker/hippie/country (lol) with very long hair (its healthy though!) and my typical outfit is jeans and a t-shirt (usually with the Stones, Doors, Zeppelin, The Who, Dylan..lol, or whoever on them) and a pair of boots. I don't really wear much make-up but a little bit of goldeny brown eyeshadow (not much!) and a tad of mascara. I'm a very sophisticated girl but I guess the way I dress don't show that...but I'm other things to, like very laid back. So, should I start dressing more "sophisticated" and putting more effort or what? lol thanks!

If you are wondering than give it a try and see how you feel. If it makes you feel uncomfortable than stop. I think the best thing you can do is just have confidence in who you are. It sounds like you really know your self and what you like and what makes you feel comfortable. Since it is college, I think you sound very normal. Of course, once you're out looking for work you know you'll have to dress up and get a style that suits both you and the work place. But for now, have fun in jeans and t-shirts!!!!

Naaah! I'm from Cleveland. You don't have to change. You are still young...wear what you want to. You only live once..have fun...be your own person and have your own style. There's a time to dress more sophisticated..know when..in college? naaah! You'll find many men up North that find that look attractive and probably a few women too. LOL! Good luck with college. Peace....

I dress in whatever makes me happy or what i like....but i still try not to break the rules....like no VPL (visible panty line)....I just brought the Glamour Do's and Don'ts book....it tells you what to wear for the office, clubbing, hair....don't change your look just upgrade it...

I think there are times when you should put in more effort...i feel like guys like that....but i realize that majority of times it's just your confidence....

like wearing a fitted blazer with the vintage t-shirt, skinny jeans tucked into your boots....go look at magazines and see what you like and emulate it

Dress the way you want. If you want to seem more sophisticated then go for it. Try a skirt and shirt with no logos on it. Have fun!

People say be yourself, and they are right. I say if you are asking us then hey why not try it. Try putting on a v-neck and some nice pants, try a skirt. Go to the makeup counter and ask for help. Get your haircut some, shape it, mohawk it whatever. By the way loose the boots, jk but seriously.

Just be yourself, but put some effort into being yourself lol. Try to show who you are by how you present yourself. Then, you will immediately attract friends that you can relate too, with only a first impression.

I don't think you should really change...as long as you are comfortable with yourself..it's good that you maintain just a little make-up..makes you look more lively...and maybe you could just trying wearing more girly t-shirts..maybe a little more fitting ones instead of baggy ones...=) well..that's just my p.o.v..all the best in college...=)

Do what ever you feel comfortable with. If you get to school and decide that you don't feel comfortable in your clothes do something about it then. If people can't get past your clothes fck em

No baby, your beauty and brains are on the inside, it doesn't matter what people say about you as long as you know the truth then that's all that matters. " Its not what people call you, its what you answer to"
