It is a good idea. Most already have radio's built in to their slot, they just press a button, or their own walkmans and all have their own TV.s Radio clocks is a good idea, it puts some reponsiblity back on them to get them selves up and ready for the day, rather than a waiting for an officer to wake them up on let go.

On impulse I would say sure they should have them.....But knowing certain inmates they would dismantle them adn try to create some sort of weapon or something to initially hurt themselves or someone else. Like Jessup, In Maryland.....Just dont give them an option.

That's pretty wild--that means they've got elec. outlets in there too. Wow pretty easy to get the ol cookups going. I really don't see why they shouldn't have radios, except for the outlets that are used in many jails to obtain fire for lighting contraband cigs, joints, or fires for cooking up saved foods. (Which does happen in cell locations that aren't monitored frequently.)

the only thing an inmate should have in his cell is a bathtub filled with water and a frayed electrical cord plugged in

I don't see the point -- especially if they are going to make noise and disrupt the prison environment. But, if there is no danger, and if the alarm is quiet and doesn't cause any disturbance, why not....

As long as each person keeps their volume under control I don't see what the big deal is.

Like they have an appointment they are going to be late for?
They already get enough tax $$ wasted on them.
