When I was younger, I used to hear voices that put me down when I was alone and they sort of echoed in my brain. As I got older, they went away. But for a while I used to have visions of a faceless person with long black hair and black holes for eyes. It waspretty scary and the minute i had them i would think it was behind me os i'd turn aroudn quickly and nothing would be there. I haven't had that happen to me in a while, but I still don't know what was going on back then (last time I was about 16) I am 21 now, but I wonder if there is any explanation. I;ve been told it was my conscience, but I;m not sure.

Please no rude comments or comments that I'm crazy. Thanks.

For some reason I was always afraid of mirrors, doorways, and windows. I also had trouble sleeping for fear of a figure at the end of my bed. I also on a few occassions had a feeling that someone was sitting on my when i slept and i woke up unable to breathe. This was often when someone passed away..

I don't think you are crazy. There are several things that might be going on with you.

1. This might be a post-traumatic reaction from something that happened to you as a child. You might want to explore this with a therapist. I had the same problem with the voices for many years myself --this stemmed from childhood abuse and therapy helped.

2. Another possibility--was there an overly critical figure in your life while growing up --this voice you're hearing may actually be an internalized "memory" which keeps playing over and over again in your head--your creativity adds the scary details to try to make sense of it and to help you deny that a loved one could hurt you by saying destructive things to you.

3. It's a little far out, but I can't help thinking that the experience you describe is very like a paranormal experience many have described as a visitation by "the Hag Syndrome ."http://paranormal.about.com/library/weekly/aa112000a.htm

Hope some of this helps --keep in mind that you are not alone and talk to a counselor if you are worried about the voices.

I'm sorry you're going through all that. It sounds like a pretty clear case of schizophrenia. I dated a guy who was schizophrenic and learned a lot about it. The good thing is, there are great medications out there that really help. I suggest you find a doctor and start treatment.

I know it sounds scary, but honestly, the sooner you get treated, the better. The important thing is to stay with the treatment and be honest with your doctor. There is help out there. I wish you luck.

About feeling as though you can't breath, i've felt the same way before. I have asthma though, so that could definitely explain it. However, if you say it was around the time soemone close to had passed, it could be stress. Stress does alot to your body and mind. If you don't sleep because your scared, you put added stress on your body. That stress can cause hallucinations. So really, you were in this viscious circle.

It sounds like it may be Paranoid-Schizophrenia. It is a treatable mental health illness that inflicts many people of various backgrounds. You should see a Psychiatrist because you will probably need medication to treat it.

Need more info really but think you should be seeking advice from your G.P. about possible mental health services in your area. Do not listen to anyone other than those trained in this area.
