I mean, I'm COMPLETELY miserable! It's stressing me out to the point that thinking of going into work gives me panic attacks! I can't afford to just quit, but I'm the kind of person that can't go in and just half *** a job either. HELP!

It's better to leave on good terms, than to get fired. What kind of job do you have? Sometimes making things work is a good thing. If I were you I'd take a mini vacation if you can afford one. I've read that people who take a vacation are more happy at work, and get less stressed. While you have free time be looking for another job, and do other interviews and then give your notice and let the new place know when you can work.

Can you afford not to work or to live on unemployment? If you have to work, I would find another job - always easier to do when you're employed than when you're not. If you can live on unemployment, which is rife with its own issues, i.e. proving every week that you are applying and interviewing for other positions, then you need to get terminated based on ability. You can do anything that would be considered a gross violation, i.e. job abandonment. You might consider going to your boss, or someone decent in your HR department, and let them know that you're miserable and you'd like to leave and collect unemployment. All they have to do is not respond to the notice from the state unemployment commission (or write down no contest). Some employers will agree to this if they know you're unhappy or if you're not doing the job well - and chances are they do - most employers know when an employee is miserable and would gladly take the hit on unemployment to be done with the liability. Of course, you have any number of options to force this issue. Obviously, once you're out of there you'll have to figure out what kind of work you would like and how to be qualified for it so that you don't end up in the same situation again. Good luck - I'm still struggling with what I want to do and I'm 40 with a career!

Unless you work in a high demand field, getting fired will make getting another job very difficult. Most companies do background checks, and at the very least they are going to find out why you are not at your former job. And though there are laws limiting how much information a former employer is allowed to give out, (usually how long you worked there, how much you made, and your reason for leaving) a former employeer can use little HR language tricks to give out more info.
If you really need to get away from this job, but need income, join up with a good temp agency, they can get you something usually within a week.

Why would you want to be fired? You can't usually get unemployment benefits if you get fired. If you can't afford to quit how can you afford to be fired. Doesn't make sense to me. Look for another job that is more suitable to you and/or make the best of the job that you have as good jobs are hard to come by.

Start looking for a new job and give your 2 week notice, dont get fired because then you cant collect unemployment, dont do anything that will go on your permanent job record. Sign up at all the temp agency and you will get a new job. If they ask why you are leaven your current job tell them there was no growth for you in the company.

you know that you can go to the doctor and let him know that you are having panic attacks because of the stress that your job is putting on you??? the doctor then will give you and excuse for you to take some time off the job,and get disability this will give you time to go to school or get an other job with out quitting directly to your job plus you get money.

quitting looks a lot better than getting fired. but if you really want to get fired, go in late, leave early, call in sick every other day, and best way of all is to not do the work and if you do it, do a poor job. but still, as an employer, i would rather have some one just quit than me have to fire them. since you like to do the work right, then just go in late and leave early and be sick all the time. and getting fired doesnt look good for future job applications.
