London Drugs sells a unit that does just that, you connect it to your stereo and to your computer and you can burn the cassette tape right onto a CD, I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I know for a fact it's at London Drugs for approximately $60. If you don't live in an area where there is a London Drugs, check out their online store at londondrugs.com Good luck :)

You'll need:

1 tape deck with RCA outputs
1 RCA to 1/8" stereo audio plug
1 computer complete with a sound card and a CD-R
1 audio recording software like adobe audition or soundforge

connect your tape deck to your computer via the audio cable and plug it in. verify that the input on your soundcard controls is not muted. open the software and press the record button. press play on the tape deck. you may need to adjust the volume to get the right level on your recording. when you're done, you can save the audio in wav of mp3. and you're done!

You can download software that will record on your computer from any source with a headphone jack or output jack. Search around for the best price first.
