I READ THE QUESTION WRONG!! STUPID ME.

I sent my invitiations out one month before the wedding. Giving everyone time to respond and get ready.

I bought mine from a printing company. I had two envelopes per invitation. On the smaller envelope, I put the invitee's names. On the outer envelope, I put name and address. EXAMPLE:
Inner:
Caleb, Amanda, Paden and Lisa
Outer:
The Harvey Family
1234 Ollie Cr.
City, Town, Zip
It was a lot of work, but I was told it was the proper way to send out wedding invitations.

I would say no earlier that 1 year before the wedding....that way if you send them a year in advance it gives people time to plan ahead, but also not to forget when your big day is.
