"Bigotry, discrimination, hatred, violence and prejudice find no home in any religion worthy of the name. The Council of Bishops and Elders has made it clear that continued oppression of LGBT persons cannot be supported by any who hold sacred the central tenets of Christianity. We join them in calling on all followers of Christ Risen to oppose the false use of scripture and doctrine against LGBT persons."- from the lutheran religious leader from the national religious leaders roundtable

On the national gay and lesbian taskforce.. they have an article on the bishop and elders council to end discrimination of lgbt.

They list 5 ways to end discrimination towards all lgbt.Pretty much you can't call yourself a christian if you hate and discriminate because it's against christianty to behave that way.
They said it's a slow process but one day all lgbt won't be opressed anymore.

Any thoughts of this?I know it'll take time before we see full equal rights and marriage within a church but with more on our side.. maybe we'll see it happen in our lifetime.

If you haven't noticed, the cat is already out of the bag. Like with Pandora's box, she couldn't put all that stuff back in the box. The efforts today aren't really so much the traditional discrimination as to say that giving a blank check is too much, so society is trying to define the borders. They have places for you and you have places for them and there isn't full agreement on where the lines are for those places. If you think it hurts now, go back a few decades, then go back a few centuries--the problems you face today are piddly stuff compared to then.

Yes ... there will be a time (though, frankly, I don't think it's going to be in the next ten years) when people are appalled at the idea that a law-abiding community of citizens were discriminated against into the 21st century in the U.S.

Bigots' grandchildren will be ashamed of them - and they will be on the wrong side of history.
