Caution: I would like to add that in reality nothing is free. One needs to pay something if not cash then in kind. Such sites which claim for distributing things free tend to send adware, spyware, malware or any other such thing which may prove harmful to computer or mobile phone. So your computer or mobile phone must be well equipped with some good quality Anti Virus Software like AVG, MCaffe etc, Anti spyware software, Anti Adware Software like Lava Soft etc. One may start getting un-necessary bulk mail. So while downloading be cautious of such things and adopt some precautionary measures in advance. I shall suggest you to read their privacy policy also.

With spyware like it is, nowhere traditionally. If you are running a Mac, Itunes is a great place for finding free music. Same with MySpace but you cannot download it. You can survey your friends and if you have a friend from Russia who is still a Russian citizen. I believe they can download the songs and then burn you a disc or something. http://www.allofmp3.com/. This site is a hot topic of debate because whoever runs it is not paying royalties to artists of the music they distribute. Instead, this site invests that money (prolly turns a nice profit) in patented technology to enhance your online buying music experience. It's a concept I do not feel the RIAA ever fathomed. It was all prosecute, stop this technology, blah blah blah. Laws cannot keep up with Technology and any fool can see that. But now what you find is that other countries consumers are starting to utilize this site. We cannot control their laws, we can press for a change government wise. It is just amazing to me how the distribution of music is perplexing some of the great minds.
Hmmmm,
Learn how to rip and go past the internet, utilizing new storage mediums at low prices. Snag a Seagate 500gig HD for 260 bones (last I looked at Frye's). Be sure you have USB 2.0 for fast transfer. Network with your music friends (and their music friends) to rip their new CDs and existing collections. Then spread it to the next person, always for free. You will be surprised at how many people have extensive mp3 collections, sometimes all you need to do is ask.
Now, maybe Torrents, but it my mind they are fickle and also house dangers. Limewire, KazaA or whatever those napster like sites are traps for your computer.
I think the piratebay got shut down.

I use napster only cause if you choose to download a program that is free & not legal, youre at greater risk of viruses cause they are not as secure as the legal ones. When i got limewire, i got all these viruses!!!
