To give you a better idea of what I need for the costume go to yahoo and click the images tab then type in the search field Headless Horseman and look for the picture from the Johnny Depp movie Sleepy Hollow. The pictures of the horseman's costume is the one I need. I hope that clarifies it.

I put together my own Halloween costume this year. I'm being a dark and terrible queen. To put the costume together, I first see if there's anything that I can use from my closet, and then I start to hunt in Good Will shops. But since you have a bigger spending limit than I do, you can go to detail. There's a website www.buycostumes.com and they have some really great things. I'm not sure if they have the Headless horseman (great idea by the way! That's my favorite halloween story), but I'm sure there's something that can help.

If you know someone that sews then you could always get those fabric designs, pick up the fabric that you want, and get to work.

I'm sure it'll come out awesome! Good Luck!

Check out your local thrift store and consignment shops for the pants and long coat. You should then look for an alterations shop to get someone to make changes to the coat so it can be pulled up over your head.

A glowing pumpkin can be bought from the Rag Shop, or check out other craft stores, department stores or Halloween shops near you.

You may also be able to go to a costume rental shop or Halloween costume store and find one pre-made. Good luck, and have fun!

does the headless horseman have a pumpin he carries? Get that from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. They have the fake pumpkins in all sizes.

Do you have a jacket to wear over your head? Get that at a thrift store and cut out small, unnoticable eyes.

Thrift stores are the best for that sort of thing. If I had seen Sleepy Hollow I could help a lot more. If you need a cape don't disregard the linen section. You may find a big bedspread you can turn into a cape.

There are two approaches to this costume: one, make the outfit yourself or two, rent it from a costume place.

If you want to try to make it yourself, go to your local fabric store and pick out a pattern. The ladies there can help you select fabric and notions, etc.

I would suggest finding a costume shop in your area. You would be more likely to find something nice in a larger shop or perhaps a theater company rental situation.

Good luck and Happy Halloween!

Vintage clothing stores,
second hand shops
your grandfathers attic,
yard sales.
Don't forget the local pumpkin patch to get the jack-o'lantern for the head.
