It may be politically incorrect to say this, but yes. no, it's not adolph hitler (although he had his share of being a bastard, killing lots of people) or the mongol hordes. for the systematic, cruel elimination of millions, the dubious honor had to go to the old soviet union, specifically under the rule of joseph stain, but appalling death figures appear across the board for totalitarian communist countries.

taken from moreorless.com(on joseph stalin):
Kill tally:
Approximately 20 million, including up to 14.5 million needlessly starved to death. At least one million executed for political "offences". At least 9.5 million more deported, exiled or imprisoned in work camps, with many of the estimated five million sent to the 'Gulag Archipelago' never returning alive. Other estimates place the number of deported at 28 million, including 18 million sent to the 'Gulag'.

from anarticle by R.J Rummel:

With this understood, the Soviet Union appears the greatest megamurderer of all, apparently killing near 61,000,000 people

the cruelty of the soviet regime in their many purges, and the inhumanity of the "Gulag" camps in Siberia is also well documented: read "The Gulag Archipeligo" by Aleksandre Solzhenitsyn

Yes, the atrocities committed by the catholic church throughout history have been appalling. Yes, the abuses of power by the papacy is horrific. Yes, religion can be abused, and used as a tool for fascism and terror. but the simple fact of the matter is that the communist regime of Soviet Russia, not even counting the horrors of Maoist China and other totalitarian countries, managed to murder far more in it's reign of 65-odd years than the Catholic church did in two millenia.

This is really a misleading question. The Catholic Church (meaning clergy in the employ of the Church) are responsible for very few deaths throughout history. However, as with many religions (Islam for example) the message has been altered, misunderstood, or deliberately warped to suit individual needs. This has led to the deaths of millions of people throughout history.

have a nice day.

Catholocizm.
Everysingle place they went.
If you did not believe, they would slotter you.
They did it to the asians, everyone in the middle east, the romans, the celts, the africans, and of course every single person in america. All the natives.
Now come on people you are going to defend the same people that believed, " If she can swim she is a witch"
No I don't think there is a culter, or organization as brutal, and evil as catholocism

I don't think you are retarded but was only looking at this in a purely historical light. Maybe you were trying for a rise but anyway...

I have not researched enough on the Mongols of old to know but they would probably run a close second. They are a very old society and have ranged over all of Asia twice. If you want to look anywhere, look there.

Chuck Norris...LOL

I know you would like to blame the Catholic Church, but check out Stalin's history. There is more reliable documentation of his atrocities.

Darkspirit and you should get together. Neither of you have an ounce of brains, nor make any sense.

Since you are both only parrots of someone elses ideas you could have some nice little eggs.

Yes, Islam. The arabs did 3 brutal campaigns, that's how they spread their religion and language. The turks did the same and they manage to cover in blood half Europe. All these in the name of allah.
