It's just a chemical reaction.

The mixture doesn't really explode. The reaction between the two ingredients create carbon dioxide gas, which expands. If the mixture and reaction is contained within a sealed container, the gas has no room to continue expanding as it is created. At some point, the gas pressure builds up until the canister bursts, being unablle to hold that much pressure.

A true explosive reaction would be like when sufficiant heat is aplied to gunpoweder. The reaction is extremely rapid, and a VERY rapid reaction is called an explosion. If the baking powder and vinegar is mixed in an open container, it would just bubble over. No explosion.

You're mixing a base (baking powder) and an acid (vinegar).
The reaction between baking soda and vinegar is actually two reactions, an acid base reaction followed by a decomposition reaction.
When the two ingredients are mixed, hydrogen ions ( H+) from the vinegar react with the bicarbonate ions (HCO3- ) from the baking soda to form a new chemical called carbonic acid (H2CO3).
The carbonic acid thus formed then immediately decomposes into carbon dioxide gas (CO2)and water (H2O).
It's this carbon dioxide gas that you see bubbling and foaming as soon as you mix baking soda and vinegar together.
If you seal the vessel that contains both components, the Carbon Dioxide will build up enough pressure to blow the container apart.

It relases carbon dioxide gas... if this is done in a sealed container the pressure will increase and could cause an explosion......Every 4th of July venders sell "bomb bags" that is mix vinegar and baking soda in a sealed container...they make a nice loud BANG!!!

It's the chemical reaction between the two elements. When the molecules from vinegar and the from baking soda interact, that's what happens. :)

do you understand under pressure like in a spray can well the baking power and vinegar combined well cause pressure and it will explodes, and if you pugsure a can under pressure it to will explode.

Reaction produces gas, gas builds pressure in sealed cannister, sealed cannister can't hold the pressure, cannister fails.

Because the mixture releases a gas.
