I took a urine test at 5 days late and it came back negative but I am never this late. How long should I wait to test again and does anyone know how soon a blood test can be taken?

I got many false negatives (including on a blood test). Those tests are more correct when it comes up positive than when it comes up negative. I actually had to have an U/S on one pregnancy to prove I was pregnant because I knew I was pregnant or I was very ill (I am cancer survivor) and as a result of the tests (including blood tests) being negative they ran an U/S that proved inconclusively that I was pregnant. You have to demand care in this circumstance. No one wants to believe you because the tests are negative.

I had 2 false negatives and ended up being pregnant with twins! Best false negative of my life, though!! The reason I had the false negatives were because my hormones were so high by the time that I took them that they did not register as a pregnancy. Weird, I know, but that is how they explained it to me. I had my period for the first 5 months of my pregnancy and no other symptoms so I didn't even know to take a test! A blood test finally made that determination and now I am a mommy to two beautiful, healthy children!!
I would recommend consulting your doctor if you are concerned and see if you can schedule a lab to have some blood taken for a pregnancy test!
Best of luck!

Now a days blood tests and urine tests are as accurate, they both can detect 20 units of hcg which can be read 5-8 days after implantation. You can indeed get a false negative IF you have tested too early, but testing after you have missed your period should be accurate. You might just be late...our bodies can sometimes surprise us, things we do during our cycle can alter our periods. If you are 5 days late and the test says negative then you are more likely NOT to be pregnant.

I would wait an additional three days from the last test. Yes, I have gotten a false negative, then three days later, positive

i haven't but they are likely. especially if it's a little early. The box will tell you you can get a false negative. take the test again in a few days. Have you missed your period yet? Wait til you have missed.

false negative tests are more common than false positives
you can have a blood test very early and it would be way more accurate

if you take birth control pills you can definately get a false positive. the hormone in the pill fools your body into thinking it is already pregnent so that your ovaries will not release an egg. that is how it works. it happened to my best friend. wait a day or two and take another one. my friend was also never late. dont fret until you know for sure. if you get another positive get a blood tast done and DO NOT take birht control pills. good luck
