It's a bug and it won't go away. It's is annoying the hell out of me!

This is NOT a bug but part of MS Office!!! LOL

It is probably part of Office but it could be something else. There is a trojan that masks itself that way. It will not be in the C:/windows/system32 folder if it is. If it is acting weird and not a trojan, reinstall Office.

If you think it is a trojan it should turn up in a virus scan and you ought to be able to get rid of it that way.

Read carefully and notice the bad guy is .dll and the good guy is .exe

Ctfmon.dll

IMPORTANT There is a windows process of a similar name which should not be deleted.


If the process is ctfmon.dll and NOT ctfmon.exe, then you have the Mydoon.B virus-easy to recognise as it opens notepad and displays what appears to be data.
