I'd like you to make an appointment to see me straight away.
If you end up with a secondary infection you will be in severe pain.

It is quite possible that you have a Temporary Threshold Shift in your hearing due to loud noise trauma to your ear. This can also manifest in a side effect symptom of tinnitus.
Yes, you should see an audiologist, and/or ENT to rule out serious problems. If the loss and ringing warrant, you may be given Prednisone. There have been some research showing that early treatment of hearing losses due to noise exposure may benefit from Prednisone therapy.
In the future always (ALWAYS) wear your hearing protection, even if you are running the machinery for only a few moments.

I think that many of the other people who answered your question have been somewhat extreme in their answers. Protect both ears in the future and wait this out. If your tympanic membrane (ear drum) had been ruptured, believe me, you would have felt pain when it occurred. The tinnitus (ringing) and hearing loss is probably only temporary. Don't use ear drops or stick anything in your ears. If it doesn't resolve itself in 3-4 days, see your doctor for further evaulation and in the meantime avoid exposing the affected ear (both ears, in fact) to further trauma.

JUST IN CASE - go see a doctor. Depending on how loud the decibles were, you may have either temporary or permanent ear damage. Since the time was short, the ringing you are hearing is your ears trying to heal themselves. After seeing a doctor, shut yourself in a sound-proof location for a week. Your ears should recover fine in that time.
And next time - wear the ear protection!

How long for? Get the same after a concert, but usually goes away after a night's sleep. If it was still there 24 hours' later I would certainly consider seeing a doctor.

Does your work have signs suggesting that you wear ear defenders? If not, you would be entitled to compensation if your ear is damaged in any way.
I'd go to a doctor if I were you, just to be on the safe side.
