I have a horror story. I had my first girl by Emergency C-Section after 34 hours of hard labour (induced because my water broke) and I did not do well afterwards. I needed a lot more rest after her birth and didn't do well with her constant crying. I did better the 2nd and 3rd times (they were also ER C-Sections - but then I didn't have to labour first). I had them two weeks early and because of not having such a long labour I was able to recouperate much faster and take care of the babies better. As a result I bonded better with them.

I agree with someone above, you can't go into it with all the preconceptions. Everyone is different. And every birth is different. I could have smacked my bf's mom, she just kept talking about the pain and dealing with it at the birth throughout my pregnancy. I wish she would've talked about something else, I got sick of hearing about something you have no control over. But guess what? I was lucky enough to experience a pain free pregnancy without any drugs! The contractions were very uncomfortable, but nothing was ever painful. It was actually a really good experience, and I just wanted to rub it in her face.

I just went into it not knowing what to expect, and figured I'd just deal with it when I had to. There's no point in worrying about it, because you have no clue if you are even worrying for anything. And if you want a child that bad, the scare of giving birth wouldn't be enough to keep you from it.

It is scary but dont let someone elses horror story keep you from having a baby. It is really not as bad as some people make it out to be. The worst part of the whole thing was the IV for me. I am due to have my second any day now and I am more afraid of the IV than giving birth. And if you are afraid of pain then get the epidural. That does not hurt, and can only help.

It was very scary the first time i gave birth! I just turned 19 and wasnt sure what was going to happen! The only bad part about the whole thing (i think) is the contractions, But once you get a epidural ALL the pain goes away!! Now you just got the pushin to do, But once the baby comes out there is NO MORE PAIN and it is all worth it...obviouly cause I did it again a year later!! LOL

Good Luck

Don't go looking for birth stories...you'll hear enough of them. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor and explain how you feel. Also remember they call it LABOR because it is work. It doesn't last forever, normally in today's world with proper prenatal care no one dies, and in the end no matter how you have your baby(natural, with meds or c-section), as long as you and baby are healthy you win. The big thing is what is in your mind. Being scared will make things harder. Take the time to learn all you can, find a great OBGYN, and be positive. I had three c-sections, the first was unexpected and the last two were scheduled. We have three beautiful girls...no problem.

Child birth is the most scariest yet natural thing in the world. Yes it is painful and yes it will hurt, but when you are holding your tiny little baby in your arms for the first time you will realise that it was all worth it. It does hurt but yet we women go on to have more children!!

all through your labour just keep thinking to yourself "any minute now i am gonna see the most beautiful thing i have ever created" and all your worries should melt away

Good Luck it wont be as bad as you think

Child birth for me was awful I had 49 hours of labour and felt so scared. I knew it was the worst pain I have ever experienced but I honestly cannot remeber what it felt like I cannot describe what it felt like. It stops the minute the placenta is passed and you forget it. The only reminder is you are a little sore. Childbirth is a great experience and I will honestly go throu it again even though it is the most painful frightening thing you ever do.

every pregnancy is different and so is every women. A women's body is made to handle the strain that you would be going threw. It really is not that bad. I suggest every women get the chance at least once in there life. It is an amazing experience. As far as actually having the baby, there are pain killers and epidurals for that. With them you will only feel pressure and the slight raise of a contraction. But all pain and being uncomfortable feelings are gone as soon as that darling angel is put into your arms.
