A lot of times you can tell when someone's question is a joke (like my question about my guppy) but people with take it seriously and fly off the handle.

This is a safe place for those people to 'lose it.' It's a controlled environment and they won't have consequences for their actions.
My guess is that the people that 'fly off the handle' on Y!A, feel that they are not in control of their lives in the real world.
i.e. They work a job they don't like, are in a relationship that is unhealthy, etc., etc.

some people are wound too tight.They either take the question the wrong way or are having a bad day and ppl on this site is the easiest avenue for them to vent.I'm sorry u had a bad experiance,hopefully some nicer people will come through all the meanies in your next questions. :)

It's easy for some to be mean when they are sitting behind a computer. And a lot don't have a sense of humor. But you keep asking questions the way you want. If they dont' like it, they can blow it out their a**es!

Because they have nothing better to do than ruin other peoples happiness by answering their questions in a rude or mean way and having no consequences for it. Just ignore them, all they are trying to do is make you mad by being rude.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if something is a joke on the computer. And sometimes people are just grouchy.

One thing is that the way some of the questions are worded. Another reason is that they have no manners or respect

don't take it personally.
the person that flew off the handle is probably a little mild mannered geek. but because he has anonymity in YA-YA land he feels like he's a stud on steroids who can squash anybody he wants!
