Because they are made of loose fitting soft cotton so you can move and be comfortable for long periods of time.
Be sure to change into your jeans when your done, so you don't outgrow them, I had gained 10lbs and never knew it til I put my jeans back on! What a shock!! And I wear XS and S scrubs.

Doctors spend on average about 36 hours in them... would hope they would be comfy. I love my scrubs :D
