It's a psychological thing. They feel like they are a female in a male's body, or vice versa. It can take years to come to terms with this. I know about this firsthand, my dad is transgendered, and is now female. It's not that they just decide they want to change genders. It's ingrained in them. My dad kind of knew this since she was a teenager, but it took until she was almost 50 to actually go through the gender change surgery and everything.

:) Maybe because they feel more like the other gender other than the body that they have and are seen as that gender of the body they are in. They are looked at wrongly and makes them feel like the wrong gender because they are given the wrong reactions.

To fit it. Some people don't feel as adequate as we do in life. They seem to want a challenge in life but when they don't get one they change in a different way.

They feel they possess more traits from the opposite sex , and if they change it they feel at peace with all the traits they've owned.
