In my opinion the first royal betrayal was when some arrogant bastard with a big stick and some big dumb supporters had the nerve to tell his equals and friends, "Hey, I'm king, God made me king and you all have to do what I say" seriously though, every ancient culture had regicide and cases of queens killing kings and sons killing their fathers for the crown,I dont know much about the mesopotamian kings or egyptian first dynasty but I am sure there was betrayal but I know that the hittite royal family was so sick of members of their own family killing each other for the crown that King Telepinyu brought in strict succession laws so that certain people could never be king so there was no point in assasinating each other if there was no gain, and this happened 3500 years ago (1500BCE)

There has been royalty in the world since ancient times. As they didn't always leave detailed accounts behind,I don't see how anybody could answer your question with any certainty.I could give you a list as long as my arm on betrayals concerning royals
but as for the first, that is beyond me!Sorry!
